About CleanWaterWise
CleanWaterWise exists because choosing a water filter should not require an engineering degree.
We started this site after spending weeks trying to make sense of conflicting advice, inflated marketing claims, and product reviews that seemed more interested in affiliate commissions than honest recommendations. The water treatment industry is full of jargon, and it can be genuinely difficult to know whether you need a $30 pitcher filter or a $2,000 whole house system — or whether you even need anything at all.
What We Do
We research and explain home water filtration, water softening, and water quality in plain language. Our guides cover:
- How different filter technologies actually work — and what they do and do not remove
- How to test your water so you know what you are actually dealing with
- Honest comparisons of specific products based on verified specifications and NSF certifications
- Step-by-step installation and maintenance guides for homeowners who prefer to DIY
- Well water treatment, which is more complex than city water and often underserved by general advice
Our Approach
We believe that the right answer to “what water filter do I need?” always starts with “test your water first.” No filter recommendation is worth much without knowing what contaminants are actually present. We try to reflect that honest approach in everything we write.
We prioritize NSF/ANSI certification over manufacturer claims when evaluating any filtration product. Third-party certification is the only independent verification that a filter actually removes what the label says it removes.
Transparency
Some links on this site are affiliate links — if you click through and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This helps support the site. However, our editorial positions and recommendations are not influenced by affiliate relationships. We do not recommend products solely because they offer higher commissions, and we include products that do not have affiliate programs when they are the best option for a given use case.
Advertising is served through Google AdSense. Ad placements are automated and we do not have direct relationships with the advertisers whose ads appear on this site.
Disclaimer
CleanWaterWise provides information for general educational purposes. We are not licensed water treatment professionals or engineers. Water quality varies significantly by location, and no general guide can substitute for having your specific water supply tested by a certified laboratory. Always verify product certifications, specifications, and suitability for your water conditions before purchasing filtration equipment.

Who’s Behind CleanWaterWise

CleanWaterWise is written and maintained by Darío Collar, an independent researcher who started this site to cut through how confusing home water treatment is for ordinary homeowners. Every guide is researched personally — comparing specs, certifications and real-world results — and updated as products change. For water-quality issues that affect health, always confirm with a certified lab or your local water authority.
